School is like a career for children and teens. The purpose of doing well in school is to help children and teens as they grow into young adults.

School Overview

Details About School

Sims do not get paid for attending school and they cannot quit school. They are able to take sick days and vacation days. They generate time off from school.

Here are a few details about going to school:

  • Days: Monday – Friday
  • Start Time: 8 am
  • End Time: 4 pm
  • Wake-up Time: 6 am
  • Duration: 7 hours
  • Daily Task: Do Homework

Like a career, Sims can be promoted or demoted based on their performance. Unlike a career, students start off mid-level with the grade of a C but the grade can be increased or decreased based on the effort the follwing:

  • Attending or skipping school
  • The mood school is attended in
  • Skill levels
  • Doing homework
  • Chance cards
  • Away activities

Away Activities

While a Sim is at school, the following away activities can be completed:

  • Normal
  • Slack Off – Lowers School performance. Increases Fun Need. Offers a chance of granting a Happy moodlet. (50% chance)
  • Study Hard – Increases School performance. Reduces Fun Need. Chance for Stress moodlet. (50% chance)
  • Make Friends – Lowers School performance. Increases Social Need. Also gives the chance to meet another student.

Inviting Friends Over

Sims have a chance of inviting friends over from school. If the Sim has the loner trait, they will not invite friends over from school. If a Sim has the outgoing trait they are 1.5 times more likely to invite a friend over from school.

School Warnings

The principle will call and give Sims a warning if they are missing school or if their school performance is low.

Sims will get Moodlet for increasing or decreasing their school performance:

Doing Homework

Sims receive a book in their inventory when they age into a child. Sims in grade school and high school have different books for doing homework. The homework book can be bought using the bookshelf.

Sims have the following actions when it comes to doing their homework based on they grade they have:

    • Do Homework
    • Do Extra Credit
  • Grade B
    • Do Homework
    • Do Extra Credit
  • Grade C
    • Do Homework
  • Grade D
    • Do Homework
    • Do Make Up Homework
  • Grade F
    • Do Homework
    • Do Make Up Homework

Children Sims can have any Sim older then them help them with their homework. They can also complete homework with other Sims in their same age group. Sims that are focused or have the genius, bookworm, or geek trait will autonomously do homework.

Grade School

Sims attend grade school when they are children. All Sims start grade school with a C. Children attend grade school at Landgraab Elementary. The description for grade school is:

Children go to school so that knowledge can be stuffed into their little heads and so they can be prepared for life.

Below is a list of the grade school levels and the descriptions:

Grade School F StudentLet’s not sugar coat things. You’re failing. But you’ve still got time to turn it around! Do some homework – any homework – and go to school.Do Make Up Homework 3 Times

Traits

When a child ages into a teen, they will receive a hidden trait based on the grade the finished at. These hidden traits can provide a benefit for the teen as they go to high school. They include:

  • Grade School A
    • Starts teen careers at level 2
    • Starts high school as a B student
  • Grade School B
    • Starts high school as a C student
    • Starts teen careers at level 2
  • Grade School C
    • Starts high school as a C student
  • Grade School D
    • Starts high school as a D student
  • Grade School F
    • Starts high school as a D student

Chance Cards

Grade school students have 29 chance cards they can experience.

High School

Sims attend high school when they are teens. The grade a high school starts with is based on how they performed in grade school. Teens attend Buckingham High. The description for high school is:

Teenagers go to high school so that they can hang out with friends, cause trouble, and maybe learn some stuff.
