One-Pan Christmas Casserole Recipe (Plus Great Gift Idea with Printabl (2)

One of my favorite things to do is to cook for others and to have others in our home, or bless others with a meal. One of my favorite things to receive is a foodie gift. They are often much more heart-felt, delicious and practical.

One day a while back, I was in a hurry and had some leftover bread crumbs from another recipe. I did some testing in the kitchen and created a one-pancasserole from scratch. The recipe is actually shared in our dinner in a pumpkin – you can make the actual recipe and bake it in a pan too if you don’t have a pie pumpkin. This is the total homemade version and it is delicious any time of the year!

Well, I thought to myself…”what a wonderful gift to give to others, to give even to those in need during the holidays. I wonder if there is a way to make an easy version of this that can be given as a gift, even stored for when needed?”

Thus, the Christmas Casserole was born! This one still turns out amazing even with most all of it coming from a can. The best part is, it will store for a while (the bread crumbs not as long as the cans, but still a good while) and can be used for any reason, any occasion and the ingredients can be found all-year round!

So why not bless someone with a gift of a full dinner in one pan, easy assembly, warm, baked comfort food and easy clean-up by simply throwing it all away?!?

I know I would appreciate something like this! Let us share both the recipe and the gift idea with you. You can wrap it in a gift bag, or a basket, or even just an aluminum pan for full clean-up and disposal too.

Ingredients needed for One-Pan Christmas Casserole:

  • 3 cups of dried breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 2 TBSP of dried onion
  • 1.5 TBSP of Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Craisins (homemade version here)
  • 1 can chicken broth (14.5 oz)
  • 1 can of cut green beans
  • 1 can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 10 oz. can of turkey breast
  • 1 can of mushrooms

Here’s how to make the One-Pan Christmas Casserole to eat. Again a “from scratch” version is found here, but using the ingredients in just the gift basket, here’s how it’s made:

  • Put the breadcrumbs and spices in a bowl. Pour half of the can of chicken broth over the bread crumbs and let it set to let these rehydrate.

  • In a separate bowl, mix the mushroom soup with the second half of the broth.
  • Then add the mushrooms, green beans and turkey breast all drained to the soup mixture.

Note:I got the Christmasthemed tray from Hobby Lobby.

The recipe card you can print below that gives instructions on how to assemble and cook.

To wrap this, I just simply put tissue paper around the cans and placed them in the aluminum pan.

Then I placed the whole pan in a gift sized pan, with a bow and the gift tag.
